Summary: 1 ski patroller caught, partly buried and killed

According to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, on Tuesday afternoon a skier was killed from trauma after hitting trees while caught in an avalanche. The skier was with at least 3 companions, who reached him quickly and rendered aid. The group was not inside of a ski area. GNFAC staff are on site today (Wednesday) and additional details will be posted as they become available.

According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the avalanche victim was one of two Yellowstone Club ski patrol members who were assisting two Montana State University graduate students with avalanche research.
