We just received news second hand of a snowmachine fatality in the Trinity Mountain area, which is west of Fairfield Idaho and in the Boise National Forest.
Saturday December 28th. The only thing we know is that he was an 18 year old male, riding with a brother. Both were buried but dug out by several other riders, one survived. It is believed that they were not wearing beacons or carrying avalanche rescue gear, the observers it is unknown what gear they had.
We had an avalanche warning issued Friday the 27th mid day and continuing though Saturday, for High avalanche danger in the Sawtooth National Forest and the mountains of Central Idaho.
Avalanche in Elmore County kills snowmobiler, 18

An 18-year-old Gooding man died Saturday after being buried in an avalanche while snowmobiling
in the Trinity Mountain area in Elmore County.
Chase Travis Swenson was with his brother when they were buried in snow. Two friends who were
with the brothers and three other snowmobilers in the area pulled out Swenson and his brother.
The group tried to revive Swenson, but were unable to do so, according to the Elmore County
Sheriff?s Office. The remainder of the party made it home safely.
