Firth Man Killed In Avalanche
April 3, 2006
A man from Firth is dead after getting caught in an avalanche in Clark County.
This is a map of the area where the avalanche happened just after noon Sunday.
The Clark County Sheriff's office says Douglas Mitchel of Firth was found dead under seven feet of snow.
The friend he was riding his snowmobile with was found alive soon after the accident.
Search and Rescue says Mitchel and his friend were not wearing beacons at the time and that might have helped them find them sooner.
They also want to remind everyone that avalanche conditions are high right now.
