The final phase of rescue involves evacuation. You and your group will have to decide whether to self-evacuate or call for organized rescue to assist with your evacuation while sheltering. Consider the severity of injuries, your group’s level of preparedness, weather and avalanche conditions, and your return route. If you have a satellite messenger or a cell phone with service, communicate your evacuation options with emergency response teams.
