Systematically searching avalanche debris for a buried victim using an avalanche probe

We use probing to verify the exact location and depth of a buried victim before starting to dig because digging can be very time-consuming. It’s helpful to practice deploying your probe and probing for a buried backpack to get a feel for identifying a positive probe strike versus probing the ground, trees, or rocks.
