Spot probing is used to search for a victim who isn’t wearing an avalanche transceiver. Probe likely burial areas where a victim could get hung up or deposited from the avalanche. Suspect areas include above trees and rocks, around snowmobiles or gear on the surface, in benches, gullies, and at the toe of the debris pile.
